ABOUT GRACE

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost, but now I’m found was blind but now I see.  1 Peter 5:10 says “after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you”.

Grace Community Baptist Church was organized when 8 worshippers met at Ryan’s Steakhouse on July 27, 2011 to study God’s Word, under the leadership of Pastor Titus A. White, Sr.  From there the assembly relocated to the Greenwell Springs Branch Library, beginning on August 10, 2011, every Thursday night for Bible Study.  A few weeks later, the Spirit of God led Pastor White to formally identify the believers as Grace Community Baptist Church and the Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of Louisiana.

Seeing that the congregation was diligent in attending Bible Study, Pastor White led them in prayer to begin searching for a building to hold Sunday morning worship services.  In January 2012, Grace Community began leasing a building at 12055 Coursey Boulevard and held the first Sunday service on February 5, 2012.    On Coursey Boulevard the following Ministries were established: Deacons, Titus 2 Women, Ushers and Greeters, Music Ministry, Finance, and Sunday School.  Our fondest memories at our Coursey location are being blessed with pews for our Sanctuary and baptizing new converts in a swimming pool, outside after Sunday services.

As the congregation grew, it was evident that we would need a larger facility.  Again, Pastor White led the congregation in prayer and fasting for God to provide Grace with a church building.  God answered our prayers and touched the heart of the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge and Dr. Tommy Middleton, Executive Director.  Grace Community was blessed to occupy this church at 2538 Brightside Lane.  We held our first worship service in this building on May 5, 2013.

In August 2014, we held our first Ministers and Deacons Ordination, dedicating these men for service unto God and Grace Community.  Our second Deacons Ordination was held in October 2018.

Since relocating to the Brightside church, we have added the following Ministries:

  • Trustee Ministry
  • Men’s Ministry
  • Women’s Ministry
  • Youth & Nursery Ministry
  • Male Chorus / Youth Choir
  • Married Couples Ministry
  • Evangelism Ministry
  • Media Ministry

Although our ministries serve to equip disciples for spiritual growth, our Pastor constantly stresses how important it is for Grace to get into the community and win souls for Christ.  Each week our Pastor challenges us with our Core Concepts – we GATHER for worship and fellowship, we are GROWING into mature disciples of Jesus Christ, and we GO outside of these walls to witness about the saving power of our Lord.  Our ministries are active in serving our community through initiatives such as the Men’s Ministry Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway, the Usher Ministry’s feeding of the homeless, the Music Ministry’s visit to the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, and the Women’s Ministry Pass a Purse Project.

Our 2016 church focus “Expecting a Great Harvest” proved to be God ordained, as the Lord added new converts and disciples to Grace Community. Grace was blessed to start a Transportation Ministry with the purchase of a church van.  Our church family was immensely blessed when the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge officially donated the church building and land at 2538 Brightside Lane to Grace Community!!

Grace Community is a church that was ordained “By His Grace and For His Glory”.  We are a growing congregation filled with willing disciples that have a passion to impact our community for the glory of Jesus Christ.  We know that the Best is Yet to Come for Psalm 84:11 states “the Lord God is a sun and shield, the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly”.
